On 15 March, the EU introduced further sectoral measures targeting the Russian economy. The new measures were announced after informal meetings took place between the EU heads of state and the G7 countries’ leaders. On 9 March 2022, the EU announced the imposition of further sanctions against Russia and Belarus. On March 2, 2022 the EU introduced new sanctions entailing, inter alia, the disconnection of certain Russian banks from SWIFT.
