The Council of the European Union has announced today, on 13 March 2017, that the EU is formally extending their economic sanctions over actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine until 15 September 2017. According to the Council’s press release, the assessment of the situation does not justify a change in the sanctions regime. The Council removed two deceased persons from the list of persons and entities subject to these restrictive measures, which now apply to 150 persons and 37 entities.
