As of 16 October 2014, the Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol (Sanctions) (Overseas Territories) Order 2014 (the “Order“) came into force with respect to the following British Overseas Territories: Anguilla, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, The Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia in the Island of Cyprus, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Virgin Islands. The Order gives effect to the EU’s sanctions against Crimea and Sevastopol (pursuant to Council Regulation (EU) No 692/2014 (as amended)) and Russia (pursuant to Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 (as amended)), and the sanctions adopted in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine (pursuant to Council Regulation (EU) No 269/2014 (as amended)), in these territories.
Bermuda implemented the Order on 15 October 2014 by way of the International Sanctions (Russia, Crimea and Sevastopol) Amendment Regulations 2014, which amends Schedule 1 of the Bermuda International Sanctions Regulations 2013 (though at the time of writing the Schedule had not yet been updated).
