On 9 May 2014, Norway implemented a regulation (the “Regulation“) imposing “restrictive measures against persons deemed responsible for embezzlement of public funds, as well as persons who are considered to have participated in human rights violations in Ukraine“.

The Regulation, which is effective from 9 May 2014, designates a further 22 individuals in connection with the crises in Ukraine. Again, as with our blog on Norway on 12 May 2014, this new list of individuals mirrors the persons who were designated by the EU under Council Regulation (EU) No 208/2014 and Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No 381/2014 on 5 March 2014 and 14 April 2014, respectively. The list includes former president, Viktor Yanukovych, his family and people connected to him, and does not target any entities.

Our corresponding client alert regarding Council Regulation (EU) No 208/2014 can be found here.
