Following the European Council meeting last Thursday evening, the European Council stated that it “recalled previous EU decisions on restrictive measures” and will “remain seized with the situation in Ukraine in order to provide further direction as required.” No further detail on the status of the EU’s sanctions against Russia was provided. It is understood that a formal review of the EU’s sanctions against Russia will take place at the end of October, reportedly on Friday 31 October.
